As part of the 25th year anniversary celebration, the National Guitar Workshop is offering students the opportunity to earn college credit through the Hartford Conservatory while enrolled in classes at the National Guitar Workshop during the summer of 2008. We offer two distinct options giving students who wish to earn college credit flexibility to fit their individual needs.
Option 1 – Earning College Credit for One Week of Study At NGW
Students enrolled at all eight NGW campuses will have the opportunity to earn college credit through the Hartford Conservatory for successful completion of one week of study. Interested students must apply for this program through NGW by May 1, 2008. Depending on the class, students will have the opportunity to earn 1-2 college credits per week of study. The Hartford Conservatory must approve each student’s application for college credit. All students enrolled in this program will pay an additional $370 per credit prior to the start of the class. At the end of the week, the instructor teaching the course will evaluate students and will give the appropriate grade based on the student’s performance in the class.
Option 2 – Earning College Credit for Enrollment in a Five Week Course at NGW
The NGW is proud to present its Five Week College Credit Course. This program is only available at the Connecticut campus. All students enrolled in this course must apply for college credit in each of the five weeks as described above. In addition to those classes, students will also enroll in a five-week Theory and Musicianship course. This course will meet two days per week and will cover areas of music theory and ear training. At the end of the Musicianship and Theory class, students will take a written exam. Upon successful completion of this course, students will earn one college credit. All students enrolled in the Five Week Course will also receive one private lesson per week with a teacher of their choice.
