Since 1984, NGW has awarded thousands of scholarships to deserving students. Scholarship awards are based on several factors: musicianship, financial need, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. The application process is the same for all three scholarships.

Scholarship awards are based on several factors: Musicianship, financial need, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. There are three different scholarship programs available from the NGW. The Scholarship Application is the same for all financial aid offers.

Scholarship Application must include:

  • Completed Scholarship Application Form
  • Completed 2010 NGW application
  • Cassette Tape or CD containing three songs. Clearly label with applicant’s name. Tapes and CD’s are not returned.
  • Personal Statement. Include your reason for applying, musical goals, etc.
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Tuition deposit of $350.00 if applying for NGW scholarship

Deadlines

  • Completed Scholarship Application materials must be postmarked by April 24, 2010.
  • Applicants will be notified of award by May 22, 2010.
  • June 5, 2010: By this date, any recipients who cannot accept or use the scholarship must notify NGW in writing.

NGW Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded based on musical ability and financial need and vary in the amounts awarded. To apply for this scholarship, please note that the $350 deposit must accompany the application. If for any reason the student cannot accept the award or attend NGW, the deposit is returned, minus a $75 processing fee, if we are notified in writing by June 8, 2010.

DayJams Scholarship

NGW is offering one scholarship to a former DayJams student who plans to attend NGW for the first time. If you are applying for this scholarship, please mark your application and recording with the word “DayJams.” No deposit is necessary if applying for a scholarship.

The Isaac Figgs Memorial Scholarship

In memory of Isaac Figgs, NGW is offering one scholarship to a student who exhibits outstanding musical talent and composition skills. For this scholarship, the recording must contain at least one original tune. To apply for this scholarship, please mark your application and recording with the words “Isaac Figgs.” No deposit is necessary if applying for a scholarship.
