Through the generous support of our sponsors and master artists, the NGW is able to offer scholarships for deserving students. These companies and individuals support the educational ideals of the NGW because they believe in the future of music. Many students are afforded the opportunity to attend our programs and work with the world’s greatest musicians and educators because of their continued support. We thank them for their contributions.
Scholarship awards are based on several factors: Musicianship, financial need, letters of recommendation, and personal statement. There are four different scholarship programs available from the NGW. The Scholarship Application is the same for all financial aid offers.
Scholarship Application must include:
- Completed Scholarship Application Form
- Completed 2008 NGW application
- Cassette Tape or CD containing three songs. Clearly label with applicant’s name. Tapes and CD’s are not returned.
- Personal Statement. Include your reason for applying, musical goals, etc.
- Two letters of recommendation
- Tuition deposit of $350.00 if applying for NGW partial scholarship
- No deposit is necessary if applying for a full scholarship.
Deadlines
- Completed Scholarship Application materials must be postmarked by April 25, 2008.
- Applicants will be notified of award by May 23, 2008.
- June 6, 2008: By this date, any recipients who cannot accept or use the scholarship must notify NGW in writing.

NGW Partial Scholarship
These partial scholarships are awarded based on musical ability and financial need. To apply for this scholarship, please note that the $350 deposit must accompany the application. If for any reason the student cannot accept the award or attend NGW, the deposit is returned, minus a $75 registration fee, as long as we are notified in writing by June 6, 2008.
Full Scholarship
DayJams Scholarship: NGW is offering one full scholarship to a former DayJams student who plans to attend NGW for the first time. If you are applying for this scholarship, please mark your application and recording with the word “DayJams.”
The Steve Vai/MANF Scholarships: Thanks to Steve Vai and the Make a Noise Foundation, NGW is able to offer five full scholarships to deserving students. If you are interested in applying for this scholarship, please clearly label your application and recording with the words “Steve Vai.”
The Isaac Figgs Memorial Scholarship: In memory of Isaac Figgs, NGW is offering one full scholarship to a student who exhibits outstanding musical talent and composition skills. For this scholarship, the recording must contain at least one original tune. To apply for this scholarship, please mark your application and recording with the words “Isaac Figgs.”
